James "Slim" Mangrum, Jr., 56, welder, died of heart failure on Saturday, April 4, 1998, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North in Oxford.
Services were Wednesday, April 8, at 11:00 a.m. at Wells Funeral Home Chapel at Batesville with internment at the Marks Cemetery.
Mr. Mangrum was a U.S. Navy veteran born in Panola County on April 26, 1941, to James Authur Garfield and Lela Jewel Irby Mangrum.
He is survived by his wife, Joan Whitten Mangrum of Marks; one son, James Authur Garfield Mangrum, III of Batesville; one sister, Betty Self of Jackson; and one granddaughter.
