Edward Eugene Arendale

Funeral services for Edward Eugene Arendale, 65, of West were from Southern Funeral Home chapel in Durant at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, August 30 with Rev. Larry Harvey officiating. Interment followed in Marks City Cemetery in Marks.

Mr. Arendale, a retired Illinois Central Railroad agent/operator, died at District Two Hospital in Durant on Friday, August 28. He was a member of West Baptist Church and a veteran of World War II. He was a Mason, a Shriner, and a member of the Eastern Star. He also served as the mayor of West.

Survivors include his wife, Knoxie Muirhead Arendale of West; two daughters, Mrs. Nina Hanson of Jackson and Mrs. Tina Ray of Cleveland; six sons, Curt Arendale of Cleveland, Eddie Gene Arendale and Ricky Arendale, both of Greenville, Tommy Arendale and Mike Arendale, both of Memphis and John Arendale of Kosciusko; two sisters, Mrs. Eunice Smith of Eads, Tennessee and Mrs. Fanny Mae Davis of Norfolk, Virginia; sixteen grandchildren: and four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were his grandsons. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Men’s Sunday School Class of West Baptist Church.
