Rene "Chino" R. Salinas was called to be with the Lord on May 26, 2008 with family by his side. He was born to Esteban and Margarita Salinas on August 8, 1954 in Brownsville, Texas.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He lived in Corpus Christi, Texas most of his life and was employed with CCISD for 25 years and with Texas A&M University Corpus Christi for 5 years.
He is preceded in death by his parents Esteban and Margarita; two brothers, Jose E. Alvarado and Cesar Salinas; and father- and mother-in-law, Manuel and Guadalupe Sanchez.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Delia Sanchez Salinas; children, Rene (Vanessa) Salinas, Jr. and Roxanne (Chris) Salinas; grandsons, JoeMichael, Rene III, Azrael and Dismas Salinas; sister Delia (Jesse) Salazar; brothers Eloy Salinas both of Corpus Christi, Texas and Jose T. (Margarita) Alvarado of San Antonio, Texas; nieces Jessica and Bernadette; great-nieces Lorena and Stephanie; and great- nephew Jaxon; brothers in law and sisters in law Manuel Sanchez, Moises (Clara) Sanchez, Miguel Sanchez, Maria (Connie) Sanchez, Sylvia (Jose) Mejia, Martin (Gina) Sanchez, Anna Briseno, Marin (Lucia) Sanchez; special niece Victoria Davis and numerous other nieces and nephews.
Rene enjoyed spending time with his friends and family. He especially enjoyed watching his grandsons grow. He had a special childhood friend, Joe Martin Castillo and friend Maria Castanon.
Visitation and a rosary were held on May 28th at Corpus Christi Funeral Home. A funeral mass was celebrated on May 29th at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment followed at Rose Hill Memorial Park, Corpus Christi, TX.
