Ray Hodson, Sr., 65, a longtime resident of Wenatchee, died late Monday evening, June 21, 1999 in Wenatchee.
He was born on Nov. 13, 1933 at Longmont, CO, to Harry R. and Violet M. (Whetstone) Hodson. Ray grew up and received his early education in Denver and at the age of 10, moved with his family to Southern California (Los Angeles area), where he completed his schooling. Ray then enlisted in the United States Army and he was stationed in Germany.
Following his discharge, Ray met Helen G. "Jerry" Dunlap. The two were married on May 4, 1957, in Torrance, CA. Ray lived and worked in the Southern California area with his family until 1972, when the family moved to Wenatchee, where they have remained ever since.
Ray worked here locally at various places of employment and retired in the late 1980s with the Salvation Army where he had worked as a truck driver. He was a past member of the Wenatchee Eagles Lodge Aerie #204.
Survivors include his wife, Jerry Hodson of the family home in Wenatchee; his daughter and son-in-law, Darla and Jim Vandeway of Henderson, NV; his son and daughter-in-law, Ray, Jr. and Diana Hodson of East Wenatchee; his son, Randy E. Hodson of East Wenatchee; his seven grandsons, and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, by two sons, one son-in-law and by his two brothers.
A graveside service of commemoration will be held for Mr. Hodson on Saturday, June 26, 1999 at 11 a.m. at the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery of East Wenatchee with Major Thomas Morrow officiating.
If desired, memorials may be made in his name to the Central Washington Hospital Home Health/Hospice Program and/or to the American Cancer Society.
