Excerpt of the obituary that was published in the Fayetteville Observer:
"Mrs. Mary Hall was reared in Giles County, and was a member of the McLaurine family, one of the most prominent in the county. She had resided in Fayetteville for more than 30 years, and everyone in town was thoroughly acquainted with her splendid Christian character, and will unreservedly endorse everything said eulogistic of her life. She was a member--a most consistent one--of the Presbyterian Church whose every leaning was on virtue's side. Kind and sympathetic, charitable in thought and deed, she has left to her family the rich legacy of a pure Christian life, and to the town an example of the highest spiritual living, the noblest type of heroic womanhood, that should be an inspiration to all. . . . After (the) funeral services Saturday afternoon by Revs. G. H. Hagan and G. A. Morgan, she was laid to rest in Rose Hill Cemetery."
