Chick was born on Feb. 9, 1917 at Wiseman, AR to the late Luther and Ollie Langston. He grew up and attended school in Wiseman, AR.
In 1935, he married Bethel Stuart. In 1936, they moved to Wenatchee and worked in the fruit industry. In 1947, Chick pursued his love for cars and trucks and operated Mission Auto Sales, a Studebaker dealership. From there, he owned several car lots on Wenatchee Avenue. In 1954, Chick moved his family to Seattle where he was employed by Convoy Company. He retired after spending 23 years with Convoy Company.
During this time, he became a member of the National Safety Council Million Mile Club. That was in 1968, and by 1978 he had earned a 21-year Safe Driving Award.
During his retirement, he and his wife travelled extensively around the southern United States. Chick enjoyed camping and fishing, but mostly enjoyed spending time with his family.
He is loved and missed dearly by his wife of 651⁄2 years, Beth of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Don D. and Laurie Langston of Las Vegas, NV and Gary and Deanne Langston of East Wenatchee; one daughter and son-in-law, Linda B. and Mike Addleman of Cashmere; ten grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one stepsister, Nova Haley of Salem, AR.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, two half-brothers and a half-sister.
He is remembered by his family as a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather. He will be missed dearly.
Commemoration services will be held on Monday morning, Oct. 16, 2000 at 11 a.m. at Telford's Chapel of the Valley with the Rev. Bob Bauer officiating. Concluding services and the interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Saturday from 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. and on Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
