Mrs. Rachel Haggard, 90 years old, Van Buren, Arkansas died in a local hospital Monday, October 16, 1967 following a long illness. Mrs. Haggard was a lifelong resident of Crawford county and had resided in a nursing home for many years. Born March 14, 1877 in Crawford county, she was the daughter of Alec and Sarah Asbell Johnson and was the last member of her immediate family. Mrs. Haggard was the wife of the late Willis Haggard and a member of the Baptist church.

Survivors are a son, Ted of Sallisaw; five daughters, Mrs. Ballenger, Rosie and Lilly all of Route 2, Van Buren, Sadie of Uniontown and Laura of Hobbs, New Mexico; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Dripping Springs church with Raymond Howard, pastor of Zion Baptist church of Roland, Oklahoma, officiating. Burial was in Dripping Springs Cemetery under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home.

Grandsons served as casket bearers were , Phillip, Lawrence, Edsel, Billy, Donnie and Joe Ray.
