FUNERAL OF LUCINDA BLACKBURN SUNDAY
Pioneer Lady Who Had Resided in San Bernardino Over Fifty Years - Her Wedding Was in the Old Fort
The funeral of Mrs. Lucinda Blackburn, who died yesterday, will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the family home at the corner of Mt. Vernon avenue and Fourth street. Mrs. Ella McCall of Oklahoma, a daughter of Mrs. Blackburn, arrived in the city this morning, having been summoned to the bedside of her dying mother several days before the end.
Mrs. Lucinda Blackburn was the widow of Abner L. Blackburn, a pioneer resident of this city who died several months ago. She was a native of Indiana and came to San Bernardino with her parents when a child. She has failed steadily since the death of her husband a year ago.
Lucinda Harris was her maiden name and she was married in the Old Fort, before San Bernardino was a town, on April 27th, 1852. Mrs. Blackburn leaves a host of relatives to mourn her loss.
The surviving children are: Levi A., John F., Jesse O., of this city; Charles, in Shasta county; and Fred, in San Jacinto; Mrs. Ella McCall (McCaw), in Oklahoma, and Mrs. Nettie West of this city. A daughter, Mrs. Della Mulholland, died about three years ago.
