Ezekiel was a native of Norwich, Ct., and came to Canaan, with his brother Joshua previous to 1769, evidently to look out for their interests and those of their father. They took prominent parts in dividing and surveying the lands.
Capt. Ezekiel Wells was engaged in the Revolutionary war. Served as private in Capt. Samuel Richards' company, Col. John Stark's New Hampshire regiment.

According to the History of Canaan, Ezekiel's stone does not lie over his actual grave.Headstone is located in the western half of the cemetery a few rows back from the first two trees on the right side of the main path in front of the garage.
