The passing of the old people of the county, especially the mothers and fathers who lived long and happily together and reared large families, and bore their part in the early hardships and struggles in the development of their communities is always sad. They were wonderful old people and the history of Union county abounds in such. They were the simon-pure American pioneer stock that made America what it is. Such a couple were the late Mr. and Mrs. J. Lable Little. Mr. Little died in 1918 at the age of 82. Mrs. Little died last Monday. She was a daughter of John Green of Stanly county, and leaves five sons and four daughters. The sons are J. C. Little of Stanfield; T. A. Little, of Charlotte; J. A. Little, of Albemarle; J. B. Little, of Sanford, Fla., and Watt Little, who lived with his mother. The daughters are Mrs. W. L. Biggers, of Wingate; Mrs. J. S. griffin, of Hillsboro, Texas; Mrs. J. I. Griffin, of Goose Creek township, and Mrs. E. T. Hunnicutt, of Stanfield. There are a number of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Mrs. Little's age was 82 years, 7 months and 20 days. She was a most excellent lady, devoted to her large family of sons and daughters, all of whom are excellent citizens. She was a devoted member of the Primitive Baptist church. She and her husband lived together in the home at which they settled when they were married, about 60 years. They were happy and content and lived to see all their children reach manhood's and womanhood's estate. The funeral services of Mrs. Little were conducted by Elder W. C. Edwards, and a large congregation of relatives and friends attended the obsequies. The pall bearers were H. D. Little, Henry Brooks, T. A. Little, Lon Green, Silas Huneycutt and Charlie Stegall.
