Actor. He was best known to both Italian and French cinema and television fans for the many character roles he had during a career that span six decades. Born Philippe Leroy-Beaulieu, he enlisted in the French Foreign Legion in 1953 and served in the French Indochina War. He later became a reservist and served during the Algerian War. He earned several medals and honors during his military service. In 1960, he made his acting debut in the film "The Hole." He went on to appear in numerous films during his career such as "Careless," "Buona Sera, Mrs. Campbell," "The Night Porter," and "La Femme Nikita." He also appeared on the "small" screen in various television series and mini-series during his career. His career work brought him several awards including a Primetime Emmy Award nomination in 1973 for his work in "The Life of Leonardo Da Vinci."
