Leonard John Truelove, 87, of Etowah, died Saturday, July 17, 1999, at Woods Memorial Hospital.

A native of Oklahoma City, Okla., he was a resident of Etowah for 70 years.

A son of the late William J. and Mary Ida Ledford Truelove, he was a member of North Etowah Baptist Church and of the Etowah Masonic Lodge No. 653 F&AM. A veteran of World War II, he was employed as a bus driver.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Roxie Wilson Truelove; and two sisters, Evelyn Davis and Flossie Gilbert.

Survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law, Betty Freeman of Etowah and Frances and Barry Fijal of Phoenix, Ariz.; four sons and daughters-in-law, Virgil and Diana Truelove of Etowah, Vernon and Helen Truelove of Hixson, Wayne Truelove of Sarasota, Fla., and R.C. and Carolyn Truelove of Englewood; 15 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were 8:30 p.m. Sunday in the south chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with the Rev. Michael Lester officiating. Burial was 10 a.m. Monday in McMinn Memory Gardens.

Pallbearers were Bill Freeman, Roger Freeman, Danny Truelove, David Truelove, Steve Truelove, Jeff Truelove and Nathan Fijal.

The family received friends from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Bordwine Funeral Home of Etowah was in charge of arrangements.
