Educated at the Holderness School in New Hampshire, Trinity College in Hartford and Johns Hopkins University, Dr. Webster practice in Peking, China in the 1920s. One of the most brilliant plastic surgeons of his day, he was professor of surgery at Columbia University, and first director of plastic surgery at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center and founder of the American Board of Plastic Surgeons. He was a longtime board member of Trinity College.

Dr. Webster married twice, first to Miss Geraldine Rockefeller McAlpin of New York and after her death in childbirth to Miss Emily Brune Randall formerly of Baltimore. A bibliophile and philanthropist, he lived at Meadowlawn, a fine Georgian Revival house and estate at Riverdale-on-Hudson, N.Y. (697 W. 247th St, The Bronx). He gave real meaning to the term 'A Gentleman and a Scholar.'
