Surviving are a daughter Mrs. Edward (Patricia) Gallagher of Dayton; a son Robert T. Cartwright of Xenia and a stepson, Loren Lorenzo of Xenia; a step-grandson, Jeremy Lorenzo of Xenia and 11 grandchildren. Preceded in death a brother Harold R. Cartwright.
Mr. Cartwright resigned as city police captain in 1972. He was appointed to the police division in 1954 following employment at NCR. He was appointed sergeant in 1961 and attained the rank of captain in 1967. During the period May to November 1971, he served as acting chief of police between the departure of Chief Harold W. Miller and the appointment of Raymond B. Jordan. He was a 1946 graduate of Central High School.
