David A. Fogo, born. Nov 1857, Columbiana Co, OH; died. 4 Jul 1882, Ohio River near Wellsville, Columbiana, OH.

He was the son of Wallace Fogo, born 1808, Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, Scotland; Died 22 Nov 1885, Wellsville, Columbiana Co, OH) and Harriet Walker Fogo b. abt 1817 OH; d. 16 Oct 1885, Wellsville, Columbiana, OH.

David A. Fogo was one of about 75 people who drowned in the Ohio River when the ill-fated steamer, the "Scioto" carrying a crowd of excursionists inadvertantly was crashed into by the steamer, "John Lomas". The boat had left East Liverpool early in the morning to view a penitentiary in West Virginia and on the return trip failed to respond to new signal codes for passing boats. The two boats collided and a large hole was ripped in the bow of the Scioto which shortly thereafter sunk.
He was 24 years and 8 months old when he drowned.
