He died at St. Joseph's Hospital in Syracuse, NY

He was born on 4/6/1929 in Winchester Springs, Ontario, Canada, the son of James Ilion and Margaret Kyle Harper. He attended local schools in Ogdensburg, served in the U.S. Army from 1947-1950.

He married Audrey Wright on 11/7/1953 at the Baptist Church of Ogdensburg.

He went to work for Alcoa in Massena, where he worked in the cable mill as a forklift operator retiring in 1987 with over 37 years of service. He also worked construction on the St. Lawrence Seaway Project.

He was survived his wife; three sons, William (Rhoda), Dave (Cheryl), Tony (Tammy); a daughter Mrs. Robert (Wanda) Purser; a sister, Beulah Phelix; a brother, Robert Harper; his mother-in-law, Doreen Perry, Brockville, Ontario, Canada; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by three brothers, Victor, Elton, and William, in infancy; two sisters, Irene Backus and Audrey Hazelton.
