"CORP CO. K. 52 IND INF"; Recently installed new marker (April 2008). Broken pieces of the original marker can be seen lying behind the new marker. Based on regimental history, William was a Corporal and may have died or been killed in Tennessee. Unsure whether William was buried in Tennessee and this is a memorial graveside or if his remains were returned home and buried next to other Kuhn relatives.

The 52nd Regiment was organized at Rushville and Indianapolis, Indiana, February 1, 1862. Left Indiana for Fort Donelson, Tennessee, February 7. Attached to 1st Brigade, 3rd Division, Army of the Tennessee, to March, 1862. Garrison at Forts Henry and Donelson, Tennessee, to April, 1862. 1st Brigade, 4th Division, Army of the Tennessee, to May, 1862. 2nd Brigade, 4th Division, Army of the Tennessee, to July, 1862.
