Was Only Dawson Soldier to Give Up
Life in World War*Died of Pneumonia
   The body of Sergeant Milton J. Newmyer, the only Dawson solder to give up his life in the World War, has arrived at Hoboken, N.J. according to word received Friday night by the dead solder’s father, Frank Newmeyer. The remains are expected to arrive at Dawson tomorrow or Wednesday and a full military funeral, in charge of the American Legion Post of Dawson, named in honor of Sergeant Newmyer, will be held. Sergeant Newmyer was attached to the Fourth Division Company 110th Infantry and died October 1, 1918, the day following the 26th anniversary of his birth, at Souille Meuse, France, of pneumonia. Deceased was born at Dawson, a son of Frank and Mary Gallitan Newmyer and spent virtually all his life there. Before entering the service, he was a barber for Charles Paintel, the Dawson barber. He was a young man of estimable character and was respected and esteemed by all who knew him. In addition to his parents, he is survived by one sister, Mrs. P. J. Flannery of Connellsville and two brothers, Carlton and Robert, both of Dawson.
