Funeral services for Hospital Attendent First Class Pernell O. Rollins 20, Marine, son of Mrs. Willie Rollins, Tioga, who was killed on Peleliu Island in the Southwest Pacific, Oct. 9, 1944, will be held at the First Baptist Church, Tuesday at 2 p.m.
Millitary services will be in charge of the Tioga Post, American Legion. The Rev. Stanley Brown, Fort Worth, will conduct, assisted by the Rev. H. G. Ball. Burial will be in the Tioga Cemetery directed by Beck Funeral Home, Pilot Point.
Pernell was born at Antlers, Ok. Jan 4, 1924 the son of Mr. & Mrs. James H. Rollins. He came to Tioga with his parents when a child. He voluntered for the service in the Navy Feb. 9, 1943. He received training at the Navy Hospital, San Diego and transfered to the Marine Corps before going overseas on December 14, 1943. He was mortaily wounded by a sniper while rendering first aid to a wounded Marine. He was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Survivors include: his Mother, four sisters, Mrs. E.C.(Hazel) Barrow of Delhart, Mrs. Irene Beck, Tioga, Mrs. J. W. (Willie Mae) Cooper, Burnt Prairie, Ill. and Mrs. J. D. (Claudine) Matthews, Pecos, one brother, H. E. (Snig) Rollins, Lubbock and several nieces, nephews, uncles and aunts.
