ELKTON - William Marvin Hensley, 79, a well known resident of this community, died at the Newman Nursing Home in Grottoes Monday evening (July 31, 1961) where he had been a patient for a year.
Mr. Hensley was born March 1, 1882, at Elkton, son of Adam and Columbia Hensley.
Mr. Hensley is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mattie Long Hensley of Grottoes; two sons, Dewey Hensley of Harrisonburg and Steven Hensley of Grottoes; two sisters, Mrs. Helen Reason of Dayton and Mrs. Sigourney Hensley of Falls Church; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Mr. Hensley was a member of the Elkton Methodist Church. He formerly operated Hensley' s Mill at Mt. Pleasant.
A funeral service will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. from the Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church. The Rev. Floyd M. Lucas, assisted by the Rev. James Legg, will have charge of the service with burial in the Ed Hensley Cemetery nearby.
Active pallbearers will be Asa, Keiffer, Willard and Ralph Hensley, Sam Roberts, and Irvin Monger.
The family will receive friends at the Brill Funeral Home tonight from 8 until 9 o'clock.
The body will be moved from the Brill Funeral Home to the church at 1 p.m. on Wednesday.
Relatives and pallbearers are asked to meet at the church at 1:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
The family requests that flowers be omitted.
