Loretta Marjorie Jenkins, 78, Tyler, TX, passed away January 27, 1996, at Briar Cliff Village Manor, Tyler, TX, following an extended illness. Graveside services will be 3 p.m. January 29, in Evergreen Cemetery, DeWitt, MO, with the Rev. Lanny Lybarger officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association. Mrs. Jenkins was born June 22, 1917, near DeWitt, MO, to Lena Schofield Winfrey and Fred A. Winfrey. She attended Gwinn Elementary School, and graduated from Brunswick High School. She was employed at Singer Sewing Machine Co., Kansas City, MO, where she taught sewing. She also taught sewing at the Job Corp Training Center, Excelsior Springs, MO. She was a member of the National Garment Makers Union, and a member of the Order of True Kindred, Raytown, MO, 24. Mrs. Jenkins was preceded in death by two sons, Daniel Leon Jenkins, on December 16, 1960, and Larry Keith Jenkins, who died at the age of six; one sister, Mildred Gross, on March 8, 1994; and two brothers, Bailey Amos Winfrey, on August 26, 1962, and Dennis H. Winfrey, on January 26, 1987. Survivors include two sons, Claude Melvin Jenkins, Tyler, TX, and Carroll Jenkins, Blue Springs, MO; two sisters, Eileen Adams, Kansas City, MO, and Evelyn Pracht, Topeka, KS; one brother, Clinton Winfrey, Chillicothe, MO; seven grandchildren; & nine great-grandchildren.
