Alan J Atkinson, 74, of West Jordan, UT, passed away on January 30th, 2024.

Alan was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Hazen J Atkinson and Lorraine Emma Cyr on February 12, 1949. He went to school at Murray High. Alan enlisted in the Armed Services shortly after turning 18. He served the United States Army in the Vietnam War. After that, he worked as an iron worker for Iron Workers Union Local 27 for many years until he retired.

Alan was an outdoor man who could fix anything. He loved family, racing, fishing, and hunting. His years ran from hunt to hunt and were spent carefully planning for the next one. He loved spending not just the weekend, but the whole hunt with his family in the mountains. His family was his life. It was 14 years ago Alan was diagnosed with stage 4 tonsil cancer. He fought a hard battle and won. His years in remission were spent embracing the joys of being a grandpa, which to him, was his greatest joy in life.

Alan is preceded in death by his mom, dad, and brother Rick.

Alan is survived by sons: Jay (Raylynn) and Darrell (Marcie). Siblings: Dennis (Ruth), Riker, Connie (Burt), and Linda (Mike). Grandchildren: (Teya), Cydney, Kierra, Jaycub, (Gabby), Madison, Hazen, Rhiannon, Jady, (Evelynn), Rhyeton, and AJ. Nieces, nephews, and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will start with a Vigil on Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at 10:00 AM at St. Ann's Catholic Church, 450 East 2100 South, Salt Lake City, Utah. A Funeral Mass will start at 11:00 AM.
