Former Bingham Lake farmer Fred Kateley, 92, died March 13 at the Castle Ridge Care Center in Eden Prairie where he had lived for two years. The services were Thursday at Prairie United Methodist Church in Eden Prairie with Pastor Donna L. Ford officiating. Interment was in the Eden Prairie Cemetery. Fred Kateley, son of Lucius and Bessie Gardner Kateley, was born July 22, 1899, in Ceylon. After graduating from high school In Ceylon, he farmed in the area until 1935. Fred married Erma Palmer. The couple moved to Bingham Lake and farmed until 1969. After retiring, they moved to California, returning to Minnesota in 1983. Fred was preceded in death by three sisters and one granddaughter.
