“Lewis Gabriel Allen, 84, Greencastle, died at 2:08 p.m. Monday, September 29, 1997 in Putnam County Hospital, Greencastle, shortly after arrival. He was born near Covington, April 10, 1913, the son of George C. and Emma Veriski Allen. He married Elinor E. Kenworthy April 18, 1935 in Crawfordsville. She survives.

He had lived in Rainsville area for 51 years before moving to Greencastle. He was a farmer and carpenter all his life. He also drove a school bus for 15 years for MSD of Warren County, retiring in 1987, and before that was a driver for Rainsville and Pine Village schools.

He attended Greencastle Christian Church was very active in the church. He also played in a band, playing saxophone, fiddle and banjo. He was very active in music and entertained for various nursing homes.

Surviving, besides the wife, are: two daughters, Karen Ann Schneider, Route 4, Attica; Kathy (Ted S.) Willer, Greencastle; two sisters, Myrtle Martin, Brownsburg; Eva Lientz, Springfield, Illinois; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and three sisters.

Friends may call after 5 p.m. tonight (Friday) in Fisher Funeral Home, Williamsport. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Hickman Heights Christian Church with the Revs. David G.
