Glen was born in La Clede, Illinois, a son of Charles Floyd Givens and Jeanetta Blanche Kepner Givens. He was a veteran of World War II, serving as an officer in the U.S. Army Air Corps.

He had a long and successful career in the securities industry, beginning with Merrill, Lynch, Pierce, Fenner & Beane in New York City. In the early 1960s he was recruited to Reynolds & Co. to head up their training program for new stockbrokers. Several years later he introduced a training program for branch managers. Glen was a mentor and role model for literally hundreds of men and women who were fortunate enough to be accepted into one of the Reynolds training programs. He was a founding member of the Wall Street Training Directors Association.

Glen was a General Partner at Reynolds & Co. and he was a Vice President at its successor firms. He retired to Williamsburg, VA, and remained there for 12 years, when he and his wife moved to Jamestown, NC, to be closer to their family.

Glen was survived by his wife, Ernestine "Tina" Givens of Jamestown (now deceased); a daughter, Merilyn Thomasson and her husband, Griff of Sophia; two grandchildren, Jocelyn Merone and Jennifer Scott; and two great grandchildren, Edwardo Merone and Eva Merone. He was also survived by two sisters, Helen Phelps of Denver, CO, and Hazel Hayes of Effingham, IL.
