Mr. Eltiste has been ill with kidney trouble for several years. Paralysis set in and caused his death.
August Christian Eltiste, son of F. Paul Eltiste and A. Sophia Eltiste, was born in Otoe county, Nebraska, where Cook is now located. When about 4 years old his parents moved to Nemaha County, near Johnson, Nebraska. He grew to manhood here, and has lived in this state all his life with the exception of a few years spent near Phillipsburg, Kansas. After which time he moved to Dawson county, near Overton, Nebraska, about 18 years ago. He was a farmer and stock raiser, and was quite successful. He had other commendable qualities.
Last December he moved for the winter to Tuscan, Arizona, in company with his sister, Mrs. Christina Smith, who tenderly nursed him till the end came. He bore his affliction with great patience.
The remains were shipped to Auburn arriving here Saturday morning and taken to the Fred D. Bohling home northwest of Auburn. On Sunday the 27th at 2:00 p. m., services were conducted by Pastor Harder of the Johnson Lutheran church, after which the services were continued at the Christian church in Auburn. Beginning about 3:00 p.m., by Mr. C. G. Buehler of St. Joseph, Missouri. He leaves to mourn his early death four sisters and three brothers, Mrs. Christina Smith of Auburn; Mrs. Sophia Kaiser of Phillipsburg, Kansas; Mrs. Minnie Wingert of Overton, Nebraska; Mrs. Elizabeth Bohling of Auburn, Nebraska; W. F. Eltiste and Paul Eltiste of Overton, Nebraska; H. A. Eltiste of Johnson, Nebraska. The large sprays of flowers covered the casket.
