RETIRED MAIL CARRIER DIES
Charles Magnuson succumbs After 2 Years Illness

Charles Magnuson, 69, former Valparaiso resident, died at 11 pm Friday at his home at Independence Hiil, four miles north of Crown Point. He had been ill two years.
The decedant was born in Portage township, Porter county, Feb. 10, 1882. For 30 years he was employed as a rural mail carrier out of the Valparaiso postoffice, retiring three years ago.
In addition to his employment with the postoffice department, he followed the ministry, preaching at Deep River and Adams Christian Churches. For many years he was active in both county and state organizations of the rural mail carriers.
Four Sons survivie
Surviving are four sons, Hubert, Crown Point, Wayne, Michigan City, Douglas, Valparaiso and Paul Coolidge, Ariz.; one daughter, Mrs. Harold Ford, Lincoln, Ill.; three brothers, Edward J. Magnuson, Valparaiso and David and Walter Magnuson, Chesterton, and one sister, Mrs. Amanda Goranson, who lived with him at Independence Hill. His wife preceded him in death two years ago.
Memorial services will be held Tuesday in the First Christian Church, Valparaiso, with the Rev. Donald C. Ford of Michigan City, officiating. Burial will be in Graceland cemetery.
