Served in US Navy prior to and during WW II.

Assigned as member of original crew on USS Amberjack, (hull number SS 219) in July 1940 at Groton, CT (prior to keel being laid down on 15 May 41).

He perished along with the entire crew when the Amberjack was sunk by the Japanese Navy.

Along with the entire crew he was awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart Medals.

There is a memorial stone in Pine Hill Cemetery in his honor.

His name is also listed on the wall of honor at the World War II Submarine Veterans Memorial in Groton, CT.
