Zack was the son of Ella Mae (Wittmer) & Warren Guy “Tex” Herrington, Sr.
Zack grew up in Ponca City and graduated from Ponca City High School.
He served in the Marine Corps during WWII, seeing action at Peleliu Islands, Okinawa, Ryukya Island. After the war, he began a career in the construction of new homes. Among his hobbies was a passion for Hunting and Gardening.
Survivors include his wife Betty (Blair/Magness) Herrington, of Houston, TX; Sister Elnora Frankel of Rancho Santa Fe, CA.; son Charles “Chuck” (wife Shine) of Magnolia, TX; daughter Johnnie (husband Tommy), of San Diego, CA; step-daughters Karylon “Kay” Keating of Fleming Island, FL and Janet Carrier of Houston TX. He had 8 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren & 2 great-great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his Parents & Step-father, James Bryan “Pete” McQuaid; Son, Robert Bryant Herrington; Brothers, George R. Herrington and Warren Guy Herrington, JR.; and Sister, Vernadeen “Penny” Zarina.
Burial: Houston National Cemetery, Houston, Texas
Pall bearers were Chuck, Bryant & Todd Herrington, Tommy Holdenried, Mike Keating and Larry Kelly.
