PARK CITY - Charlotte Eileen Benner, 71, of Park City, went to be with our Lord on April 12, 2007.

Charlotte was born Aug. 18, 1935, in Park City, to Victor and Hattie Mitchell. In 1954, she married Jacob "Jack" Benner and for 52 years, they worked side by side, hand in hand in the fields; Charlotte in one tractor, Jack in the other. Through the years, they treasured the gift of their four children.

One of her favorite pastimes was cooking and taking care of her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She made every person who stepped through their door feel like family. Her nurturing nature and unconditional love caused many to refer to her as "Granny." She treasured many years of teaching Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and sharing fellowship with her church family, neighbors and friends. She blessed everyone with her singing and love of music. She loved sharing stories of her childhood in Greenough, Mont., where she enjoyed riding horse, picking wildflowers, bear hunting and spending time with her younger siblings. Through the years, Charlotte enjoyed spending countless hours gardening and taking care of her yard. Her fresh flowers always graced her table and the church's alter. Every evening, Charlotte, Jack and their dog, Poncho, would drive "to the hills," making their most memorable times together.

She rests in Heaven with parents, Victor and Hattie Mitchell; her niece, Jennifer Hossfeld; and great-nephew, Levi Anders.

Charlotte will be dearly missed by her husband, Jack; their dog Poncho and cat Hobo; siblings Jim Mitchell, of Park City, Kathleen (Joe) Niemi, of Roberts, Burton (Sharon) Mitchell, of Park City and Barb Mitchell, of Columbus; their children, Christene (Tom) Lowell, Laura (Doug) Thormahlen of Park City, Kenneth Benner, Billings and Maria (Duane) Peters of Sidney. Grandchildren include Eric (Kristi) Lowell, Bryce (Jill) Lowell, both of Park City, Shelley (Ryan) Erickson, Broadview, Erin (Steve) Riesinger, Laurel, Tamara Thormahlen, Park City, Nicole Peterson, Billings, Darcy (Austin), Lyle and Nichole Peters, Sidney. Great-grandchildren: Lane, Hannah, Maylee, Brylee, Isabelle, Kade, Eli, Halle, on the way, and many nieces, nephews and friends.

"We Love you Granny."

A Christian service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 16, at the Park City Baptist Church, reception to follow at the Park City Civic Center.

Flowers or memorials may be sent to The Park City Baptist Church, Special K Ranch, or charity of your choice.

Smith Funeral Chapel-Laurel is in charge of local arrangements.
