Emily Harris Mason, 74, of Cataula, GA died at St. Francis Hospital, Friday, May 16, 2008. Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. on Monday, May 19, 2008 in the Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Macon Road Chapel with Doctor Mickey Castleberry officiating. Burial will follow in Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 6:00 P.M. Sunday afternoon at the funeral home. Mrs. Mason was born June 12, 1933 in Early County, GA, daughter of the late Leila May Sawyer Harris and Rulerford Harris of Early County, GA. She was a homemaker, an office manager for Longleaf Lumber Company and a real estate agent for Kennon, Parker, Duncan and Key, as well as a member of Morningside Baptist Church. Mrs. Mason retired in 1985 to enjoy more time with her husband of 55 years. We will miss her smile and gentle ways, but she has left many memories for us to cherish in our hearts. Mrs. Mason was preceded in death by her son, Walter Wendell Mason, Jr.; granddaughter, Amanda Lea Mason; and two brothers, Perry Brunner and Edward Brunner. Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Walter Wendell Mason, Sr. of Cataula, GA; daughter-in-law, Ann Mason of Columbus, GA; brother, Thomas Harris of Blakely, GA; sister-in-law, Bernadine M. Jones of Lumpkin, GA; brother-in-law, Arthur Gary (Carol) Mason of Lumpkin, GA; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
