After receiving a degree from Westminster College, Fulton, MO in 1873, Mr. Priest entered private practice in Moberly, MO where he became a private attorney for the Missouri Pacific Railroad & the Wabash Railroad, keeping these positions from 1881 to 1894. On 9 August 1894 he was appointed a U.S. Federal Judge for Missouri by President Grover Cleveland. He served less than a year and resigned.
