Rachel was born on Nov 2, 1703 to Benjamin Rice and Mary Rice. She married Abraham Howe on May 24, 1724 and they had 8 children.

Rachel Rice is listed in "Supplement to the Rice Family: Descendants of Deacon Edmund Rice" by Andrew Henshaw Ward, 1858, as being a descendant of Deacon Edmund Rice. According to the "History of The Town of Marlborough", page 431, Edmund Rice was Rachel's Great Grandfather.

Edmund Rice was one of the town fathers of Marlborough; and, his name appears in all of the transactions of the early years. In 1660, the town was incorporated and Edmund Rice was elected one of the selectmen. The others were William Ward, John Ruddocke, John Howe, Thomas King, Solomon Johnson, and Thomas Goodnow.
