Blanche Ogburn DuPree

November 30,1925 - March 24, 2012

Angier

Blanche Ogburn DuPree, 86, died Saturday. She was the daughter of the late Alonzo Carl and Hattie Williams Ogburn. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Harry Clay DuPree and siblings, Gladys O. Woodley, Dr. Leon N. Ogburn, Leonard I. Ogburn, and Edna O. Parry. Blanche graduated from East Carolina Teachers' College and taught school in Harnett County for 38 years. Her love of music inspired her to begin a volunteer choir at the Angier United Methodist Church where she served as choir director for 52 years.

Blanche is survived by three daughters, Janet White of Greensboro, Joan Blalock of Tampa, FL, Beverly and husband, Wade Davis, Sr. of Charlotte; sister, Lura O. Hight of Raleigh; grandchildren, Eric White and wife, Alicia of Mebane, Elizabeth White of Athens, GA, Carla Boggs and husband, Jamie of San Carlos, CA, Tara Riopelle and husband, Austin of Gainesville, FL, Wade Davis, Jr. of Charlotte and fiancée, Brittany Villar of Atlanta, GA, Drew Wilson and husband, Stuart of Birmingham, AL, Harrison Davis of Athens, GA; and great-grandchildren, Madison White, Mary Grace White, and Cole Boggs.

A Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at the Angier United Methodist Church. A reception will follow in the Church Fellowship Hall for family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Angier United Methodist Church or Hospice of Wake County.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to Mrs. Reecie Partin and also to Blanche's great-niece Karol, husband Ralph, and son Devin Byrd for the loving care they provided during her illness.
