JOHN LEWIS DODSON, son of Willis G. and Martha B. (Spivey) Dodson was born in Dade County, near Dadeville on September 20, 1863. He departed this life at Greenfield, MO., on April 14, 1944, being at the time 80 years, 6 months and 24 days of age.

Mr. Dodson had been an active Christian for many years being converted and baptised into the church of Christ at Bona, Mo., in August 1922 under the preaching of Bro. C. L. Wilkerson.

Mr. Dodson had been a very successful farmer until his health failed several years ago forcing his retirement from the farm. He had spent his entire life in the Dadeville community being loved and respected by all.

He leaves to mourn his passing; two daughters, Mrs. J. C. McConnell, Dadeville, Mrs. Bessie Kirby, California, Five sons, Will of Dadeville, Omer of Golden Ciry, Dewey and Shug of Greenfield and Elmer of California, also one sister Mrs. Josie Mote of Dadeville, 13 grandchildren and a host of loyal friends and neighbors.

Funeral service was held 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon in the Dadeville Christian Church, the Rev. Virgil R. Walker of Mt. Vernon officiating. Burial was in the Dadeville Masonic Cemetery, under the direction of Ward of Greenfield.
