THE LEADER-CALL THURSDAY, 29 MARCH, 2001

James H. Watson, age 77, of Taylorsvile, died Wednesday, March 28, 2001, at Veteran's Hospital in Jackson, due to complications from a surgical procedure on March 18, 2001.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM Saturday, at Mineral Springs Missionary Baptist Church in Smith County, with burial in the church cemetery. The Rev. C. W. Brown and Kelly Tingle will officiate.

He was retired from Kendell's Juice Co. in Miami, FL. He was a member of the VFW, Alex Box Post, Laurel, MS and Mineral Springs Missionary Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Monroe Watson and Matilda Williamson Watson; his wife of 59 years, Hazel Lewis Watson; two children Paul Howard and Wilma Jean Watson Lewis; one grandson James Ray Watson, Jr.; one brother Denson Watson; and one sister, Mary Lou Craven.

He is survived by one son, James Ray Watson of Milton, FL; grandchildren, Darlene Watson, Tammy Rene Crosby, Jame Franklin Watson, Kenneth Bowen, Christine Bowen Lindsey, Kimberly Lewis Anderson, Nicki Watson Moore, James Monroe Watson, William Watson and Paula Watson; 21 great grandchildren, one brother, Henton Watson of Winter Haven, FL; two sisters Catherine Watson Schnell of Silsbee, TX and Marjorie Watson Cooley of Ellisville; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be James Ray Watson, Sr., Frankie Watson, Kenny Bowen, H.D. Webb, Chris Webb and Keith Webb. The body will be placed in the church at 10:30 AM, Saturday.

Visitation will be held from 5-9 PM, Friday, at Memory Chapel Funeral Home in Laurel, which is in charge of arrangements.

Personal Note: Half siblings of Mr. Watson were Lena Ophelia Watson Williamson, Beulah Lee Watson Robinson, Eula Mae Watson Lafferty, James Henry Watson and Nellie Rosalee Watson Sinclair who all preceded Mr. Watson in death and were the children of Mr. Watson's father James Monroe Watson and his first wife Evelyn Ford Watson.
