Charles Vernon Benson passed away quietly at his home on May 5th, 2014 at the age of 94.

Chuck was born in Carson, Iowa on January 21, 1920 to Abe (Lewis) Benson and Anita Petty. After graduating from Treynor High School, Chuck went on to study aeronautical engineering at Brown University in Siloam Springs, Arkansas. He then found work with the experimental department of Consolidated Aircraft Company in San Diego, California. It was during war time that Chuck enlisted with the Army Air Corps and served nearly

four years.

Upon returning home to Iowa he met his soul mate Margaret Ann Williams and was married on May 1, 1949. They remained happily married for 65 years. Although most of their time was spent in Council Bluffs Iowa, they also lived in Columbus Ohio and Treynor Iowa.

After retirement from the Sara Lee Corporation, he and Margaret Ann enjoyed traveling. For 13 years they traveled in their motor home and covered the 48 contiguous states. They also took trips to Alaska, Hawaii, Europe, South and Central America, China, Australia and New Zealand. They eventually moved to Sun City Arizona in 1995.

Chuck lived life as a hard worker, a faithful husband, loving father, proud grandfather and great-grandfather. He was preceded in death by both of his parents and his brother Bobby.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 9th at 2:00 P.M. at Church of the Palms Chapel, 14808 N. Boswell Blvd., Sun City, Arizona 85351. Memorials may be sent to Church of the Palms, or Banner Hospice.
