Ms. Callahan lived on Drake Prairie(also known as McFarland, California) and Bakersfield, California for many years. There she worked in agriculture and was a top salesperson for Avon Products. Later the couple invested in real estate in Tehacapi, until 1972, when the family returned to Vian and Sallisaw, Oklahoma. The couple purchased Colonial Square Apartments from her niece Vera Park. The Callahans owned and managed the apartments until retirement.
Ms. Callahan was preceded in death by her parents; her husband "Barney;" twin sons; one sister: Paulen Allen; six brothers: Lonnie, S.E., Hubert, Allen, Floyd, and Lester Bagley.
She is survived by two sons: Al Callahan and his wife Geana of Poteau, Oklahoma and Bill Callahan and his wife, Nancy of Maple, Texas; 6 wonderful grandchildren: Jason, Marcus, Kevin, Keri, and Michael; 6 precious great-grandchildren: Taylor, Jake, Amanda, Noah, Christina, and John.
Funeral service was held on Thursday, May 15, 2008 at the Oakridge Assembly of God Church. Dr. Denver Callahan, Rev. David Rhodes and Rev. Freddie Howard officiated the services.
Pallbearers were: Bill Wilson, Tim Randolph, Buck Buchanan, R.L. Curry, Brian Randolph, and Ron Scott.
