Mable Sally Joyce Grissom Bergstrom

May 31, 1947 — December 30, 2023

Talmage, Utah - Sally Joyce Bergstrom, age 76, of Talmage, passed away December 30, 2023, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born May 31, 1947, in French Camp, California, to Riley and Thelma Workman Grissom. She married the love of her life Noland James Bergstrom on March 1, 1968, in Clarksville, Tennessee. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on March 13, 1968.

Sally found great joy in crafts, sewing, and quilting. She made her daughters and granddaughters Raggedy Anne dolls, quilted with her family and neighbors, and painted her fence with bright flowers and her favorite characters. She decorated for all of the holidays, especially for Christmas which was her favorite. An avid reader, Sally read over 100 books a year– usually fantasies and mysteries. Her favorite character was Eeyore from Winnie the Pooh who was prominently featured on her fence and other decorations in her home.

Her greatest happiness was found spending time with her husband, children, and grandchildren, three of whom she helped raise.

She was a strong woman. One winter after her husband injured his hand, she split all of the firewood on her own ensuring the house was heated through the winter.

She loved children and children loved her. She could take any fussing baby and bring them back sound asleep. New moms at church always loved Sally for this talent. She was nurturing by nature; there wasn't a scraped knee or sad heart she couldn't care for.

Sally joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Springfield, Missouri when she was 18 years old. She was raised with a love of the Savior and Southern Gospel Music which she played every Sunday throughout her life.

Sally is survived by her husband of 55 years, Noland, of Talmage; her children, Bobbi (Paul) Bird, Riverton; Clint Bergstrom, West Jordan; Annette Bergstrom, Heber City; Bart (Leah) Bergstrom, Cedar City; 18 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren; and many half-brothers and sisters; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, McKenna Bird; her parents; and her aunt and uncle who helped raise her, Dayton & Pearl Bade.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 4, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at the Moon Lake Ward Chapel in Mountain Home (20800 West 3800 North, Mountain Home. Take HW 87 North out of Duchesne to Mile Marker 16). There will be a viewing that morning at the church from 9:30 - 10:45 a.m. Following the services her remains will be cremated and later interred in the Redwood Memorial Park.
