This is my 8th Great-Grandfather. He can be traced back to his 8th Great-Grandfather, Robert de Underhill, who was born Abt. 1250, in Bushbury, Staffordshire, England.

Son of John UNDERHILL, Sr. and Honore/Lenora Pawley. Father of: (with Heylken Helena DeHooch) Deborah Underhill (Abt.1630-Abt.1659), Elizabeth Underhill (1636-), & John Underhill, Jr. (1642-1692).
Also Father of: (with Elizabeth Feake)Deborah Underhill (1659-1698), Nathaniel UNDERHILL(1664-1710), Hannah Underhill (1666-1757), Elizabeth Underhill (1669-1747), & David Underhill (1672-1708). The earliest years of his childhood were spent in England, at his parents' homes in Kenilworth and Westminister. Then, sometime between 1605 and 1608, he accompanied his family to Beren-op-Zoom in the Netherlands. Capt. John Underhill was the 1st Underhill to come to America in 1630. He was a part of the Great Migration when the Massachusetts Bay Colony was established. He served under Captain Miles Standish .... 1630, THE WINTHROP FLEET: ARBELLA the flagship, AMBROSE, WILLIAM AND FRANCIS, TALBOT, HOPEWELL, JEWEL, WHALE, CHARLES, SUCCESS, MAYFLOWER, TRIAL. John was a Cadet in the Guard of the Prince of Orange 1628, Captain Pequot War 1637, Indian War 1643-4, Anglo-Dutch War 1653. Member General Courts (Legislatures) of Massachusetts Bay and New Haven, Council of New Netherland, and Hempstead Convention of 1665; Selectman of Boston, Governor of Dover, Sheriff of Flushing, High Constable and Undersheriff of North Riding of Yorkshire on Long Island. His family were among the earliest Quakers. His first wife was Helena de Hooch and his second wife was Elizabeth Feake (her mother was Anya Seton's heroine in The Winthrop Woman). Their descendants spread up the Hudson Valley to Vermont, across New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, and throughout the West.
