Daughter of Henry Ratcliff and Mary Reed Ratcliff (who were married on Oct. 5, 1868 in Johnson County, Illinois)

Emma McBride married Joseph Thomas McBride on Jan. 9, 1890 in Marshall County, Kentucky.

**********

Fate intervened in the race against death by Mrs. J. T. McBRIDE from Clio, Arkansas to Paducah, Kentucky, where she was being brought to the home of her mother, Mrs. Mary Ratcliff, 1412 South 6th Street, Paducah, to spend her dying hours. Mrs. McBride had been suffering from tuberculosis for several months. Recently her condition grew worse, and accompanied by her husband and two sons she started for Paducah, Kentucky. The engine pulling the train on which she was riding broke down a few miles from East Prairie, Missouri, and during the five hours' delay, she expired.

Mrs. McBride's body arrived in Paducah, Kentucky at 8:30 o'clock last night and was taken to the residence of her mother. It will be taken to the Wilson Cemetery in Marshall County, Kentucky at 11:00 o'clock on Saturday morning for burial.

Mrs. McBride is survived by her husband, three sons, her mother; and three brothers, Messrs. Corbett, Ernest, and Alvie Ratcliff, all of Paducah, Kentucky; and five sisters, Mrs. Cora McConnell of Benton, Kentucky, Mrs. Genoa Meadows of Birmingham, Alabama, Mrs. Augusta English of Scale, Kentucky, Mrs. Jennie Crowell of Walnut Ridge, Kentucky, and Mrs. Ella Peters Ratcliff of Paducah, Kentucky. ~~ THE PADUCAH SUN DEMOCRAT, Paducah, KY, Sept. 13, 1912, page 8
