NEW, Selma Audrey Barker, was born to Henry E. and Rebecca E. Barker December 14, 1911, in Madison, Florida. She went to be with the Lord May 14, 2008. Selma moved to Tampa in 1940, and was an active member of Missionary Alliance Christian Church. She married George Worthy and they enjoyed many years together before his death. She later married Albert New. They shared many cherished years together before his death. Selma moved to Fort Myers, Fla., in 2001 to be closer to her sister, Gladys Barker Koller. Selma will always be remembered as Aunt Selma to all who loved and cherished her. Although Aunt Selma never had children of her own, she treated all of us as if we were her children. She was a pillar of strength who taught us the meaning of love and the importance of good family values. She truly embraced God and always had a kind word for all her friends. We loved and respected this wonderful, amazing person. She was more like a second mother, grand-mother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother to many of us. Selma was predeceased by her brothers, Henry "Bud" Barker, Eustice Barker and Auley Barker, and her sisters, Sadie Revelle, Hanson Harris, Edna "Peattie" Mitchell, Eula Resnik and Gladys Koller. Aunt Selma, we love you, and we will miss you. You will never be forgotten. You will always hold a special place in our hearts. We thank God for allowing us to share your warmth and grace. Aunt Selma leaves her lifelong friend, Martha Knapp, many loving nieces, nephews, great=nieces, great=nephews, great-great-nieces, and great-great-nephews to cherish her memory. Funeral services will take place at 12:30 p.m. Monday, May 19, at the chapel of JGR Funeral Home, with interment to follow at 2 p.m. at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida.
