Elmer "Pop" Benson, 103, of White Heath, died November 17, 1990 at the Piatt County Nursing Home, Monticello. Funeral services were held at Mackey-Wright Funeral Home with burial in Monticello Cemetery.

Mr. Benson was born July 15, 1887 in Gallipolis OH, s/o George and Leatha Suthers Benson. He married Mildred E. Ferry (1896-1976) on December 19, 1914 at Decatur. She died February 2, 1976. Survivors include four sons: Everett of Bement; Earl of Cisco; Ervin and Orval, White Heath; four daughters: Ruth Denison, Champaign; Alice Marquiss, Monticello; Margie Mandrell, Hindsboro; and Eleanor Doty, Monticello; 30 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Mr. Benson was preceded in death by four brothers and five sisters. He was a retired farmer and carpenter.
