Jewel Abbie Cyrus-Hill Oct. 30, 1911 - May 8, 2008 Jewel Abbie Cyrus-Hill, 96, passed away peacefully on May 8, 2008, in Huntington Beach, CA. Jewel was born October 30, 1911 in Konawa, OK and moved to Anadarko, OK where she spent her early years. In 1947 she moved to Taft, California and became a long time resident of the San Joaquin Valley living in Bakersfield for nearly 20 years. Jewel enjoyed a successful career as an Herb and Vitamin Distributor and developed long lasting friendships with many Bakersfield area residents. She was an exceptionally gifted Seamstress, Baker and Artesian winning many awards at the Kern and Orange County Fairs. Jewel cherished each new member born into her family and lived to hold and love five generations. She was deeply loved and treasured by her family and considered their Foundation. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Carl V. Cyrus in 1945 of Oklahoma and Chester W. Hill in 1982 of Bakersfield; her mother; brother; four sisters and her son, Buddy E. Holt and daughter-in-law, Violet "Jerry" Holt of Sacramento, CA. She is survived by her three daughters, Frances Cyrus, Hazel Czuleger and Carol Sims; and her sister, Barbara Barrett; 7 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. Additionally, she enjoyed the Spouses, Companions and Blended Families of her children as well as nieces and nephews. She will be missed by all who had the honor of knowing and loving her. Visitation will be held from 1-5 p.m. on Sunday, May 18; with services on Monday, May 19, 2:00 p.m., both at Dilday Brothers Funeral Directors, 17911 Beach Blvd., Huntington Beach, CA.
