Van's parents were Sylvanus "Sill" Collier and Sarah Frances Stewart

When Van Stewart Collier was born on May 5, 1888, in Tyler Co, Texas, his father, Sylvanus, better known to his family as Sill was 39 and his mother, Sarah Frances, better known as Fannie was 35. He was given the middle name Stewart for his mother's maiden name. He had a brother named George, a sister named Sarah Lou that everybody called Sallie, another brother named Sylvanus Edward, and another sister named Lattie E.
In 1900 the Sabine, Texas census showed Van Stewart 12 years old and living with his parents Sill E now 56 and Sarah F was 47, older sister Nannie was now 28, Edward was 20, Sallie 18, and Lattie E 15. His parents had given him a younger brother John Wesley and a younger sister Fannie E to go along with his older sibings and he. Sadly the family had no idea that this would be the last census that his mom Frances and young Van Stewart would be counted in as she died in 1901 and he died on October 13, 1907, in Tyler Co, Texas, at the age of 19, and was buried there.
