Raymond Guffey
ATHENS -- Raymond Francis Guffey died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2000, in an area hospital.
He was 74. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and retired from Athens Furniture Co. after 25 years of service.
He was a Baptist and was preceded in death by his first wife, Bonita Turbyfill Guffey, and a son, Raymond Curtis Guffey.
Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Guffey; two daughters, Sharon Burger and Frances Crowe, Athens; four sons, Glenn and Dale Guffey, Athens, H.L. Guffey, Etowah, Tenn., and Ray Guffey, Riceville, Tenn.; two brothers, Ralph Guffey, Athens, Tenn., and Wayne Guffey, Ohio; 15 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Sunday at 8 p.m. at Ziegler Funeral Home with the Rev. Chip Hammonds officiating.
Burial will be Monday at 11 a.m. in Cedar Grove Cemetery.
Visitation will be Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
