Tobias W. Wambold


Another pioneer of Waterloo County, in the person of Tobias (Toby) W. Wambold, passed away Wednesday at 49 South Eby St., at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Carrie Schafer with whom he made his home for a number of years. Mr. Wambold was born near Hespeler in 1841 and received his education and training in the immediate neighborhood. In 1868 he was married to Sarah Ann Allison and this union was blessed with 11 children, nine daughters and two sons, of whom two daughters died in infancy and two after some years of married life. His wife predeceased him 40 years ago. He is survived by the following children: Priscilla, Mrs. Amos Weber. in Alberta, Isabella, Mrs. Joseph Shantz, Breslau, Ida, Mrs. Isaiah Wismer, Strasburg. James A., Goderich, Mary, Mrs. Ansson Woolner, city, Carrie, Mrs. N. Schafer, city, Titus T., on Preston highway, and 30 grandchildren. 12 great grandchildren, also five brothers and one sister. After he was married he worked for Mr. Elias Snider in German Mills in sawmill and gristmill, and later on carried on in a lumber business.
