"Mrs. Alice E. (Astley) O'Rourke, 81, of Madison, Wis., a native of Holyoke, died Friday, Feb. 27, at Madison General Hospital following a short illness.
Mrs. O'Rourke was born in Holyoke on Feb. 8, 1895, a daughter of James and Ada (Sheard) Astley. She lived in Holyoke for 56 years before moving to Madison, Wis., in 1951. While in Holyoke she was an active member of the Second Congregational Church.
She leaves four sons, James H., of West Springfield, William of Chicopee, Edward A., of Groton, Conn., and John C., of Jefferson City, Mo.; two daughters, Mrs. William (Evelyn) Plummer of Madison, Wis., and Mrs. R. T. McLellan of Merritt Island, Fla.; three sisters, Mrs. Caroline Worth of Lincoln, Neb., and Mrs. Laura Green and Mrs. Ruth Hannifan, both of Holyoke; 19 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at the Alger Funeral Home Tuesday morning. The services will be conducted by the Rev. Carlysle Smith of West Springfield. Burial will be in Forestdale Cemetery." Transcript-Telegram (Holyoke, Massachusetts), March 1, 1976
