Finley Mercer, for a number of years a residence of Eureka, died at his home in Kansas City, Saturday April 18, aged 56 years. Finley Mercer was born in Van Buren County, Iowa in October 1851.

He was married to Miss Mary J, Miller in Wayne County, Iowa in 1870. To this union four children were born, two of whom, T.J. Mercer and Mrs. Edith Lucas of Toronto survive.

Mrs. Mercer died abour 22 years ago.

Mr. Mercer left Eureka about eight years ago.

The remains were brought to Eureka for burial and the funeral services, conducted by Rev. O.J. Law, pastor of the Christian Church were held from the resident of L. Mack at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon. Interment was in the Greenwood Cemetery.
