Son of William Ellis Stroupe (1879-1962) and Connie Elizabeth Visti Sherrill (1882-1956). In 1925 he married Estelle Virginia Womac. They had four children: unnamed infant son born and died 31 May 1926; Charles; Alice; and Betty Jane(1935-1965). After Betty Jane's death they raised her oldest son because his father had died in ears earlier in the Korean War. William "Glenn" was a carpenter and farmer.
